This is a series of poems written in Paris under French government orders of “Shelter in Place”. The first edition “Within Close Quarters” opened with the words “LOCKDOWN”. Week three shifted from a lockdown mentality of imprisonment and captivity into a mindset of rest and cocooned feeling of shelter. Springtime in Paris is inevitably unpredictable. Thunderstorms and rainbows painted the skies during the month of April and grey days surprised us with sherbet sunsets.

These words, handwritten and typed are my small offering as a poet and dreamer to a world awakened to the unknowns of not only the future, but also the present moment. Pour yourself a cup of something warm or a tall glass of water, find a light source and may you experience shelter within these pages.

Released to the world on May 11, 2020: the first official day of “deconfinement” in Paris, France.

May we never go back to “normal”, but be released from here like

butterflies: to go pollinate, cultivate and make the world a more flourishing place.

We have always been free…

may this release be one of renaissance, hope and healing.
