Red White Blues

2016// Red White Blues

Two thousand sixteen
We're in a state of in between
Not left or right but in the middle
A white line between candidates that pleads a surrender flag
With each debate our nation’s heart is stabbed
We look at the wound and see that it has scabbed
Rough and raw,
Only God saw
The heart within the human
Red white and blue
Before time the creator knew
This mess was our own
Sin in society had been sewn
With each and every broken tear
We are faced with the image in the mirror
We voters go to polls
But this election won’t make us whole
No it’s not in politicians hands alone
It starts in this very home
Open up our doors to justice
Let love be our compass
The country has seen a little rust
But for eternity, it’s in God we trust
