On Being Makers

portrait_hope_harvest.jpg

on being makers

there are rumors of renewal

I heard them whispered in the ginkgo tree

her bright golden light laughed the secret

out loud

there are rumors of redemption

the magnolia branches blown in the wind

whispered a gossip scandal of grace

there are secrets being spilled

in puddles of parking lots

reflections of sky on grey pavement

I hope you’ve heard the news

for these rumors are true

An involuntary knowledge of light beckons us in

A translation into a registration of voice

This rumor comes from the heavens and the underground

heartbeats are seeds blooming

you’re invited to attend this eternal protest of death

join in the army of beauty

being makers of another story

a better story

there are rumors of renewal

You, Oh maker

your presence is requested

to take part in the grand finale

of renewal

Portraits done in the dining room after some inspiring zoom calls, poem written after a long walk through the suburbs admiring the abundance of fall colors, creation’s generosity of season.
